Conservative candidate Jeannette Towey has won a by-election to serve as member for Crowborough West Ward on Wealden District Council.
Jeannette said: “I am delighted to stand in the by-election which has come about by the sad death of cllr Major Antony Quin. I aim to serve local people with as much courtesy, thought and enthusiasm as he did and work closely with cllr Di Phillips to ensure they are fully represented.”
She volunteers for Crowborough CAB and is a founding trustee of the Jarvis Brook Community Hub. During the election she focused on key issues of building affordable homes, backing High Steet businesses and fighting for safer roads. She was a professional management consultant and developed a scheme to improve the outcomes for looked-after children, investigated bed blocking in the NHS and causes of juvenile criminal behaviour. She’s also been concerned with value for money and quality management of local authority work.
