The adult bikes include branded names such as Vikings, Barracuda and Claude Butler whilst the children's are all well known British brand Raleigh.

Mr Phillips said they made the decision to branch out into Bexhill as there are no other bike shops in the town and many customers who visit the Sidley shop travel from Bexhill.

Also available are spares, parts, accessories and on the spot repairs in their workshop.

Cllr Douart is delighted to see a new shop opening in the town and said that although he dosen't ride a bike himself he thinks that a bike shop is, "a jolly good idea and every town should have one."

Cllr Douart is a member of the seafront commitee and is in favour of a cycle path along the promenade he said: "The seafront is for everybody to enjoy. It would be nice to have a cycle path, the roads are dangerous for cyclists."

Wheelies are open six days a week closing at 1pm on Wednesdays. For more information call (01424) 819182.
