Pan Panayiotou will replace Carolyn Dickinson, who resigned in September.
Mr Panayiotou is currently a deputy head at Bitterne Park School, in Southampton, and will start work at Worthing High in January 2017.
He said: "I am very proud and honoured to have been appointed to be Worthing High School's new headteacher. I am looking forward to meeting all the students, parents and carers in the new year."
