New High Sheriff of East Sussex makes declaration of office

The new High Sheriff of East Sussex will make her Declaration of Office before Mr Justice Nicol at Lewes Law Courts on Monday, March 28 at 12.30pm.

High Sheriff for East Sussex is Kathleen (Kathy) Gore of Framfield. Kathy is married to former Wealden District Council Chairman Jack Gore and has three step-children and ten step-grandchildren.

She was educated at Our Lady’s Convent High School, London, worked as a solicitor’s clerk then passed the New York Stock Exchange and Commodities exams to be promoted to first vice president and equity syndicate manager responsible for marketing new issues to European financial institutions.

The couple moved to Sussex in 1993 and two years later Kathy joined the Charity Fair Committee, later to become Friends of East Sussex Hospices. She has volunteered at Martlets Hospice and is now chairwoman of the Friends.

She also chaired the Needlework Festival for St John Ambulance Sussex, is Trustee of the Sussex Community Foundation and Sussex Beacon and was appointed Deputy Lieutenant for East Sussex in 2006.

Her hobbies ae running (with two London Marathons under her belt,) healing, painting, gardening, reading, bridge, theatre and music.

Recently she organised the Nosh Chez Nous initiative with Marco Pierre White at Maresfield which aims to encourage people to host meals and parties to raise money for East Sussex Hospices.
