New Homes For Clun Road

WORK has begun on a new £2.8 million scheme to regenerate a run-down estate in Littlehampton.

Partnerships First has started demolition on the former 1960s council estate at Clun Road, Littlehampton, where 36 new houses will be built.

The social housing provider is working closely with Hyde Housing Association on the project.

Development manager Andrew Pook said: "The scheme is due for completion by January, 2003, and will form part of a wider regeneration initiative by the council to improve the area.

"The properties are being constructed to comply with Egan principles, which set a series of stringent improvement targets for new house building and construction projects, which very few developers other than Partnership First have been able to achieve."

He added: "Hyde is delighted to be developing this Amphion scheme at Littlehampton with Partnerships First.

"This sustainable housing scheme will provide housing for people in greatest need."

An innovative frame system will ensure the new houses benefit from high-energy efficiency and low running costs.
