New job club launched in Billingshurst

The unemployed in Billingshurst and surrounding areas are set to benefit from the launch of a new job club.

Horsham District Council has launched the Work Information and Support Hub (WISH), a free club to help unemployed people gain vital employability skills and knowledge that employers are seeking.

The club aims to provide friendly and practical advice on how to overcome concerns about finding work and will provide the opportunity to meet fellow job hunters in a relaxed atmosphere.

WISH will provide a series of weekly sessions based locally, helping people with CV writing, applying for jobs and how to create a good impression at job interviews.

The club is available to those who are long term unemployed, returning to work after a career break or have recently been made redundant.

Commenting on the initiative, Gordon Lindsay, Cabinet Member for the Local Economy said:“This accessible programme aims to help unemployed people across all age groups get jobs and contribute to our growing economy.

“If you are looking for a job, I recommend that you sign up for the programme which will help you develop your job seeking skills.”

The WISH Job Club is another employment project organised and provided by Horsham District Council and is operated in partnership with Billingshurst Community Partnership and Horsham Job Centre Plus.

It receives a start-up funding contribution from the Department of Work and Pensions and the Think Family Neighbourhood initiative will fund the running costs for this project.

If you are unemployed, living in the Billingshurst area and think that you could benefit from WISH, call 07500 450458 or email bhurst.community@btinternet.com.
