New jobs created at East Preston store

THE take-over of a convenience store at East Preston has created about 15 full and part time jobs.

The Southern Co-operative food store has replaced the old Londis store in Station Parade, which has been transformed following a short closure for refurbishment.

And pupils from nearby Georgian Gardens Community Primary School were not only given the privilege of being the first customers of the new store, they were also asked to help cut the ribbon and carry out the official opening.

And as a thank-you for their help, the school was presented with a cheque for £500 from The Southern Co-operative.

The new store offers a greatly increased range of fresh foods and there is also an in-store bakery. The Southern Co-operative is an independent business with more than 160 stores, owned by its members and trading only in the south of England.
