New leader sought to revive residents' group

An appeal has been made for a new leader to keep Pagham and Nyetimber Residents' Association alive.

The group's committee has suffered a membership crisis in the past three months. A new chairman is being sought after previous chairman Jim France had to stand down at short notice.

His deputy, Denys Roythorne, has stepped into the top role temporarily.

But it is hoped a new chairman will come forward as a result of an appeal in the association's newsletter to thousands of households in the parish.

The ideal candidate will be a person with an hour or two to spare for the monthly committee meeting plus a little more time for matters arising.

The association is also looking for a registrar to collate the road stewards who deliver the newsletters and collect the 2 annual membership fee.

An editor of the newsletter is being sought as well.

The vacancies mean the survival of the association is at stake. The group has played an important role in the community for 40 years. It provides twice weekly shopping trips to Bognor Regis and monthly visits to Chichester. New weekly journeys to the Lidl/Matalan retail park along Shripney Road have been started as well.

Regular coffee mornings and coach outings are also arranged. Anyone interested in joining the committee should contact its secretary, Ann Rowles, on 01243 267144.
