The new mayor of Peacehaven Rachael Coles was elected at the annual town council meeting in Community House on Tuesday May 14.
She will serve alongside new deputy mayor Robert Robertson for the year 2013/14.
The mayor plans to follow in the footsteps of the previous mayor in raising money for local projects.
Cllr Coles said: “I am really looking forward to representing our town and proud to have been elected as the mayor of Peacehaven for the coming year and hope to continue the impressive fundraising of the previous mayor.”
The outgoing mayor Eileen Russell and deputy mayor Elayne Merry were described by the town council as a formidable partnership, raising more than £12,000 to support a number of local projects, local groups and organisations.
Cllr Russell added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my third term as mayor and I am so pleased to have raised so much money for local projects.”
Cllr Merry said: “I have enjoyed supporting and working with cllr Russell in her fundraising.
“I am proud the residents of Peacehaven also supported us, pleased to hear so many people saying what a good idea it was to raise funds for people in the town who wouldn’t normally receive any help and how happy they were to support that idea.”
