New post for DLWP deputy director

DEPUTY Director of the De La Warr Pavilion, Emma Morris, is leaving Bexhill's iconic landmark to take up a new post further down the coast in Brighton.

Emma, who joined the DLWP team in 2002, is to become director of Photoworks, a leading UK and international agency for photography based in Brighton.

Former deputy director of the Photographers’ Gallery in London, Emma’s eight-year tenure as the DLWP deputy director afforded many challenges whilst overseeing the Pavilion’s £9 million redevelopment.

Emma said: “It has been an incredible privilege to have been involved with the Pavilion over the past eight years.

“I am immensely proud of what we have achieved since reopening in 2005 and to have worked for such a world-class organisation.”

Director of the De La Warr Pavilion, Alan Haydon, said:

“Since its reopening in 2005 Emma managed the process of change that now places the DLWP on both a regional and international platform for artistic quality which has welcomed over two million people in its first five years.

“Emma’s new appointment is a mark of success for all of us. She has met many challenges over the past eight years, facing change with open arms and pushing the boundaries in how contemporary art is delivered to so many people through this amazing iconic building.

“Her new appointment as director of Photoworks is well deserved and we will play our part in continuing to work in partnership with her and her new team.”
