“I am delighted to be joining Ark Helenswood Academy as principal,” Ms Dohel said.

“I am very much looking forward to working with everyone in the school and the community as we aim for some great years ahead.”

Ms Dohel comes from the City of London Academy in Islington, where she is currently vice principal.

Her previous roles include vice principal of Pimlico Academy, where she was part of the leadership team that took the school from special measures to outstanding in just over two years.

Executive chairman of governors at Helenswood Rebecca Curtis said: ‘Its fantastic news that we have Ms Dohel on board – I feel we have secured a strong leader to continue the great progress that Lucy Monk has made for Ark Helenswood.

“Ms Dohel and Mrs Monk will be working closely together to ensure a smooth handover and secure plans for 2016-2017 and beyond.”

Ms Dohel will be working directly with Ark’s new regional director for secondary schools Jane Fletcher, starting in September.

Ms Fletcher will also work closely with acting principal of Ark William Parker Terry Kelly.
