New schedule for bin service

Kier has revised collection days to improve efficiency, keep costs down and accommodate new housing developments planned for or being built across the Rother district.

The contractor submitted its proposals for change to Rother District Council and, with collaborative working between all partners, Kier is satisfied that the efficiencies and growth needed will be achieved.

Denzil Baldwin, Kier contracts director for the East Sussex Waste Partnership, said: “The revised collection days will help improve efficiency and provide the best value service for East Sussex residents. We have given Rother District Council firm assurances that any disruption will be minimised.

“The changes will allow better segregation of recyclable materials by increasing the separate collection of glass, which will help us increase both the quality of recycling in the area and the volume.”

Brenda Mason, Rother District Council’s service manager, added: “I appreciate changes to rubbish and recycling collection days may cause some confusion, but I want to assure residents that we will give as much notice as possible before any changes come into effect.”

Residents will receive a new calendar through the post and can also check online at www.rother.gov.uk/whenismybinday

Bins must be out by 7am on the day of collection, as the time of rounds will also be changing. Changes are due to come into effect from June 1.
