New social club licensee's '˜brilliant' day

A 'BRILLIANT' family fun day was held at Pebsham Social Club by new licensee Julie Goodfellow.

The event was a fundraiser for The Chestnut Tree children’s hospice and also an opportunity for Julie to welcome in the local community.

She said: “Lots of people came, it was really successful.”

The day had attractions for all ages, including for children face painting and pony rides, but first they had to find Julie’s daughter Robyn, who was dressed as Minnie Mouse and ask her for a ticket.

“I’m delighted, it was a lovely day,” said Julie.

“We did it for The Chestnut Tree because it is a children’s hospice that doesn’t get government support. It doesn’t even get legacies because there are children there, whereas somewhere like St Michael’s Hospice people are always fundraising for, and they get legacies left to them as well.

“The Chestnut Tree is based in Arundel, but apart from Demelza House it is probably our closest one.”

• Julie’s next move is to hold a boot fair on Saturday afternoons - these will be £5 for members or £8 for non-members per pitch or table, and run from 2pm to 6.30pm.
