New technology makes life easier at Rustington

NEW technology means that patients at a Rustington GP surgery can now "check in" for appointments without having to visit the receptionist's desk.

Westcourt Surgery, The Street, is one of the first in this area to install a computer screen to bypass the receptionist, although patients preferring a human face can still go to the desk in the usual way.

The screen is one of a number of improvements made by the practice to improve its services to patients.

There is also a stand-alone blood pressure machine now in the treatment room waiting area, which patients can use to monitor their own blood pressure, which is then recorded on a slip, placed in a box and checked, before being added to the patient's records.

Next month, Westcourt is introducing a repeat prescription service, in partnership with chemists' shops in the area, so that patients can visit the chemist nearest them, without having to make a journey to the surgery.

The chemists are Boots, Rustington, Alliance Moss, Rustington and Littlehampton, Lloyds, Rustington, Angmering and East Preston, Lindsay, Littlehampton, and Glyn Norris, Littlehampton.

The surgery now has a phlebotomy room where blood samples can be taken and further improvements are planned for the waiting room.
