New vehicle fortransport group

Battle Area Community Transport charity has recently added a new vehicle to their fleet of buses that operate around the Battle, Burwash and Ticehurst areas.

Chairman of the charity Colin Harmer said: “Sadly we had to retire our oldest bus as it had become uneconomical to run.

“We are very pleased with the replacement, which is fully accessible and is a more modern, driver-friendly vehicle.

“We would like to thank, all of our supporters who enabled us to purchase this bus, including Sussex Community Foundation and the local Parish and Town Councils, without whom we would not have been in a position to fund this and continue to provide our necessary local services to the rural community.”

As a charity, we rely on volunteers to both drive our buses and act as Directors of the charity.

Mr Harmer went on to say: “At this time, we urgently need more volunteer drivers.

“If you have a current full driving license with a D1 category and are able to commit some time each month to provide this service to the community, please give Peter a call on 01424 772001. We will provide all relevant and necessary training for our volunteers.
