New volunteers needed in Littlehampton area

VOLUNTEERS with real heart are needed by a charity encouraging us to have a healthier outlook on life.

For more information on this and other volunteer vacancies, contact Derek Moore, Arun Volunteer Centre co-ordinator, telephone 01903 731223, e-mail [email protected] or call in at the centre on the ground floor, Bradbury Centre, 1-5 St Martin’s Lane, Littlehampton, from 9am-4pm on Mondays and Thursdays and 9.30am-4.30pm on Wednesdays.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF), the UK’s leading heart charity, is appealing for volunteers to help with various fund-raising and other activities, from organising events to raising awareness of the need to lead a healthier lifestyle. Activities include organising a raffle, setting up a fund-raising group among family, friends and workplace colleagues, running a quiz or helping with a sponsored run or walk.

BHF would also like to recruit schools co-ordinators to contact schools in their area, to introduce the work of the charity and to promote our events specially designed for schools, such as skipping, junior golf, and assemblies.

Littlehampton Time Bank needs more members to sign up for this innovative scheme, allowing people to come together in their communities and share their talents in a mutually beneficial way. Time Bank members help others, receive support themselves, meet new people and help communities become better places to live. Time Banking is built on the principle that for every hour a person contributes, they receive the equivalent in time credits, which can be exchanged when they need something done, such as getting a gate fixed or having a prescription collected.

Cancer Research UK is recruiting more volunteers to join the staff of one of its charity shops in this area. Duties include serving customers, sorting out donated stock, ironing and steaming, setting up window displays, using the till, admin and book keeping and answer customer queries.

Help is required on Wednesday mornings, Thursday afternoons, Friday morning and afternoon and Saturday afternoon. The hours are very flexible – just a couple of hours will make all the difference.
