New Year revellers wreck lights

NEW Year's Eve revellers wrecked what had been one of the town's prettiest festive displays.

Christmas lighting erected in High Street by Old Town Preservation Society was torn down overnight and wrapped round a lamp post.

A PNEUMATIC road drill worth 2,630 was stolen when a burglar broke into a secure compound at Jewson's builders' merchants in Beeching Road in a theft discovered on New Year's Eve. THE passenger window on a green Nissan Micra was smashed while it was parked in Linden Road last week and the windscreen cracked.

A MAN was arrested by police after a New Year's Eve fight outside the Sea Road kebab shop.

POLICE were called to Dallington Close, Pebsham on New Year's Eve following a report that youths were throwing fireworks and stones at houses. Police also responded to a similar report from Hastings Road, where minor damage was reported. In both instances the youths had run off by the time police arrived.

A MAN was arrested by police after the windows of a car parked at School Place were smashed at about 1am on New Year's Day.
