New Year’s Honours: Three from Horsham district appointed MBEs by Queen

Three men from the Horsham district were appointed MBEs in the New Year’s Honours list by the Queen.

Paul Dedman, from Steyning, was recognised for services to St John Ambulance and to the town’s community, while Billingshurst’s Robert Sillett received the honour for his charity and community work in the village.

Meanwhile Leslie Weller, 78, who lives in Rookcross Lane, West Grinstead, was honoured for his fundraising work to restore Chichester Cathedral and his contribution to arts in West Sussex.

Over the past 30 years he has played a major part in raising more than £10m for the cathedral.
