The Newhaven Coastguard was called to two separate reports of people near the cliff edge yesterday (Wednesday, April 13).
At 1.38pm, the coastguard was tasked to reports of a person on the cliff edge between Saltdean and Rottingdean.
Police were first on the scene and spoke the person, who was not intending to harm themselves but had climbed over the fence to get a better view. Once it was established all was okay, the coastguard was stood down.
Shortly before 8pm the same day, the coastguard was again tasked to a possible despondent person on the cliff at Seaford. Birling Gap Coastguard were also called as back up.
The person was located and after police officers and coastguards spoke to the person, they calmed down and were returned home by the police.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Newhaven Coastguard had also been called to East Brighton Park Helicopter Landing Site, to meet a person taken ill on one of the wind farm vessels.
The team assisted with transfer from the aircraft to a waiting ambulance then proceeded to the hospital to recover the aircraft’s Entonox (a pain relieving gas).
