Newhaven lifeboat launched to broken down fishing boat

Newhaven's lifeboat was called to help a broken down vessel off the coast of Seaford on Sunday morning (April 17).

The lifeboat launched at 11.15am, while on its Sunday morning training exercise.

The four metre leisure fishing craft with two people on board had experienced an engine problem while approximately one mile south of the Martello Tower.

Newhaven lifeboat was alongside the vessel within a few minutes and a tow was established.

The small fishing boat was then towed into Newhaven harbour and put safely alongside.

Newhaven lifeboat then returned to station at 11:45am and was again ready for service shortly afterwards.
