THE LIFEBOAT Christmas Fair is taking place tomorrow (Saturday November 26) at the Hillcrest Centre in Newhaven.
Hopes are high the event could help to push the charity over the £30,000 target it has set this year.
So far this year the lifeboat has attracted an amazing sum of £29,600.
The fair opens at 10am with an array of crafts, knitted goods, jams, preserves, lifeboat souvenirs and other gifts.
Newhaven Lifeboat crew may be about to set a 2011 record of their own.
Since January they have answered 55 calls for help and brought 102 people and three dogs to safety from vessels or after they had become stranded on the shore.
This is the second highest number of launches in ten years.
The highest was last year when the crew launched 57 times.
A further three calls before the New Year will set a new ten-year record.
One of the 2011 launches, on May 29 was to the largest Cunard cruise ship, the Queen Victoria, three miles south of Newhaven.
The crew brought two casualties ashore from the liner for hospital treatment.
