NEWHAVEN Lifeboat rescued two people on a boat which suffered engine failure in gale force winds on Friday July 8.

They were sent at 10.58am to a 37ft catamaran Kanaloa which was stranded nine miles south west of Newhaven. It was making very slow progress in the heavy seas. The lifeboat arrived on scene within 30 minutes.

Crew established a tow line, as the safe towing speed was greater than the vessel could make way.

The boat was safely brought into Newhaven Harbour and berthed with the help of lifeboat crew.

The two tired crew on the catamaran thanked the lifeboat crew for the prompt and professional response.

Newhaven ALB Lifeboat returned to the station at around 1pm.
