Newhaven Museum will open its doors to the public on Saturday March 29 at 12 noon after a three month refurbishment.
New exhibition The Way We Lived includes domestic exhibits from the post war period illustrating how people lived after World War II.
There is also a new display commemorating the start of the First World War and the important part played by Newhaven in supplying the Western Front with ammunition, food, clothing and other essential trench warfare equipment.
The museum at Paradise Park in Avis Road has benefited from a new coat of paint, new display cases and better signs.
Displays have been reorganised and grouped together in categories.
There is a collection of more than 10,000 photographs associated with maritime history which have been scanned and indexed. The museum will search and print out a specific photograph on request for a small charge.
Newhaven Museum will be open until the end of October on weekdays (closed Monday) from 2pm to 4pm and weekends and Bank Holidays from 2pm to 5pm.
