NEWLANDS SET TO RE-OPEN

NEWLANDS School in Seaford has lived to fight another day.The shock closure of the school nearly three weeks ago left 450 pupils and 250 staff with nowhere to go after the Easter holidays.

Now it is to re-open on Monday, according to Headmaster Oliver Price.

The school, which celebrated its 150 anniversary this year, announced it had gone into administration on April 3 following two years of financial difficulties and falling numbers of pupils.

Today (April 20) Newlands School's official website carried the following message, signed by Oliver Price. It said: 'Following extremely hard work by a number of people, premises have been re-obtained and therefore Newlands School will re-open on April 24.

'Parents who wish their children to join the newly formed school should attend a meeting and registration process at Newlands Court on Sutton Avenue at 10.30 on Saturday, April 22.'
