Hooe - Saturday 1st April:- Firstly- starting at 10am and running to 12.30pm in the Village Hall, the Parish Council are holding a Community Morning and would like to invite all residents to come along. Organisations that are active within the Village will be there, some will be making presentations, and there will also be representatives from the Police, Fire service, Hastings Conservation group, and Neighbourhood Watch. Police Commissioner, Katy Bourne, will be making a short presentation too which will detail some of her police work, after which she will answer any questions. Village societies will be on hand to promote their various groups, and there will be an array of displays, including the ongoing Village Hall Project; all proceeds from the sale of light refreshments, and the bring-and-buy stall, will go towards the funds needed.

And, Secondly: In the evening, starting at 7.30pm in the grounds and Churchyard of St Oswalds, Hooe, there will be a night of Stargazing, lead by Andy Lawes and Paul Foster with their Telescopes, exciting everyone with an Astronomy Adventure. If the weather is inclement, there will be an alternative entertainment with a Film presentation. If you haven’t got tickets yet, please call Janet Pattison on 845087, you could still be lucky! £10 for Adults and £7 for under 16’s and all to include supper and drinks. Profits to the Roof repair funds.

Ninfield Flower Group (1): Monday 3rd April, in the Memorial Hall, the Flower Group will be welcoming their guest Stephanie Laing, who will be giving a demonstration entitled, “The F Factor”. Non members are always welcome at a small charge of £4 to include light refreshments, and there will be a raffle at the end of the evening for all the lovely blooms used in the displays.

N.F.G (2): And...on Wednesday 5th April, the Flower Group are thrilled to be welcoming Mr.Jim Buttress, the renowned Television and Radio broadcaster, with his fascinating talk entitled, “65 Years in Horticulture”. Tickets are £5 each, to include refreshments, and are available from Mrs Helen Cunliffe, please call 844916.

Ninfield Parish Council: Thursday 6th April, starting at 7.15pm in the Methodist Hall, Church Lane. This is the last meeting before the Annual Parish Meeting and A.G.M in May, and as always there will be lots of interesting items on the agenda. At the last meeting in March, the councillors were awaiting the publication of the long looked for Wealden Local Plan, and since it’s arrival on March 3rd a lot of reading and cross referencing has been done to pull out all the specific details for Ninfield. Do come along to hear the recent updates on this, as well as the school lease/new classrooms; Sparke Pavilion; the Football clubs, Finance reports and many other vital pieces of information about the Village... and, Another reminder!!..There are vacancies for at least two more Parish Councillors to join the group and help with all the ongoing projects, and the new ones that are in the pipeline for the forthcoming year. Ninfield Horticultural Society: Thanks to Rose for the following!..The Spring Show last Saturday was a lovely colourful event. There are photographs and a full report elsewhere in the paper, but to mention now; all the blooms looked and smelled wonderful and the handicrafts, photos and floral art were impressive. The pre-School cardboard chickens were a delight and almost stole the show!! Everything was enjoyed by the visitors, who also cleared all the yummy cakes and drinks! Thanks to all who organised, entered and visited such a superb event! Don’t forget - the final Horti meeting for this season is Monday 17th April, when the speaker will be Hilary Newman, and the topic will be ‘Herbaceous Plants for Impact!’, it’s a 7.30pm start at the Memorial Hall, with refreshments and a raffle.. And! There is the Plant Sale and Coffee Morning on Saturday 22nd April...so many dates, plus!.. Please put August 15th in your diaries- it’s The Summer Show!

Ninfield’s Super Saturdays!!: (1) Saturday 15th April - the Easter Village Market at the Blacksmiths Inn, from 9 - 11.00am. The Pub hosts this months’ event, with proceeds from the table’s sales to go to the Carnival Assoc. There will be lots of lovely stalls with meats, vegetables, plants, cakes, pies and non-comestibles including ‘chocolates-in-glasses’ Gifts for Easter, Jewellery, and loads more. Do go and see what you can pick up from friendly local producers at very reasonable prices! Call Chris on 893388 to book a stall or for more information..

(2) - Saturday 22nd April- The Quiz Night at Ninfield Memorial Hall! Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30 start, and it’s the time to get the brain in gear for another brilliant Quiz, devised and hosted by Jan and Martin Wood on behalf of the Memorial Hall. Tickets are £6 per head, to include a Ploughman’s Supper, and you are requested to bring your own nibbles, drinks and suitable glass! There will be a substantial raffle as well, with all profits from the evening going towards the next phase refurbishments in the Hall. Please put this date in your diary...it’s a great evening, tables are for teams of 6, but if you haven’t got the full quota don’t worry, there will be a chance to make up teams on the night...everyone is welcome to come and have fun, and of course raise much needed funds for the Hall.! (3) - Saturday 29th April - The Charity Auction - at the Memorial Hall - viewing will be from 10am - 1.30pm, and then the doors will re-open at 5pm for the Sale to start at 6pm, finishing by 8.30pm. This is a first for the Ninfield Carnival Committee to organise and they would like it to be a real fun humdinger! Along with the entertainment of the Auction, and all that goes with it, there will be Canapes, Nibbles and Wine, plus Tea/Coffee, with entry to the evening being only 50p!! Church Services and Events: Methodist Church- Sunday 2nd April, 10.30am Family Café Worship with Breakfast, and Simon Rooksby will be giving a presentation all about his trip to Romania when he delivered 100’s of Shoeboxes full of gifts for families in need over there. The Messy Church helped by preparing and sending gifts and now Simon will be able to tell everyone how it all worked out. His theme will be ‘People are lovely...’ and he will have lots of photos to show everyone.
