Alice in Wonderland?!: Well, it's my all time favourite children's book, and I believe there are elements within that affect our lives today.. '˜Time', for instance, is always at a premium in Alice's world down the rabbit hole; the White Rabbit himself is constantly looking at his watch and saying '˜I'm late'! Alice boasts of being able to '˜beat time', and gets told sharply that '˜Time' won't put up with that; '˜it won't stand a beating'! Now, I would like to have an '˜Eat Me' cake, whose results would be a '˜Pause of Time'- in order to catch up with the stuff that happens in between all the planned things that take up every minute of the day and that make me run out of time on a regular basis!! We're racing towards the end of the month, Mothers' day is fast approaching on Sunday 26th March; this will definitely be a chance to stop for a bit and enjoy some Time with E.M...I'll make sure of that!

Ninfield Scouts Table Sale: This Saturday, 18th March, at the Memorial Hall, from 1pm-3pm, entry 50p!. This is an event organised and hosted by the 1st Ninfield Scout Group, who are working towards their Fundraiser Activity Badge and World Challenge Award where they have to do something for the local community. They have chosen Ninfield Memorial Hall as their good cause, and to honour all the requirements needed, they have to organise, plan and evaluate the activity as well as run a cake stall with teas and coffees. This Table Sale fits nicely in the monthly Market listings, and you will find some of the regular stallholders at the Hall on Saturday; For more information on the Scouts other events in the year, email [email protected] or call Richard Creasey on 07970559226.

Ninfield Action Group: The next NAG meeting is on Monday 20th March in the Reading Room at 7.30pm, and Chairman Paul Coleshill will be pleased to see as many people as possible to update them on the Local Plan. Parish Councillors will also be on hand to answer questions, as far as they are able; there are 600 pages to the new Plan which means yet more reading and cross referencing! There will be discussions on the next stage of the consultations, and the possible ramifications on the application recently submitted for a development off Manchester Road. Ninfield Horticultural Society: Monday 20th March at the Memorial Hall, 7.30pm, the Horti will be welcoming Sally Berkley who will give a lively presentation on the Victorian Kitchen Garden- and it’s great to see new members and visitors! Then, later in the week...

The Annual Spring Show: The Horticultural Society will be presenting the fabulous displays from all the different categories available this year. From Handicraft, Floral Art, Photographic to those for wonderful Spring Blooms, there will be so much to see, plus homemade cakes and teas/coffees to keep you sustained! Doors open to the viewing public from 2.30pm.

Ninfield Village Society: The Village Society will be holding their AGM in the Methodist Hall on Thursday 23rd March from 7pm. There will be a brief report from the Chairman on all the work undertaken throughout the past year in Church Woods and the village, and, as always, new members would be very welcome to join the group - it’s only £2 a year! Following a short break for refreshments, the Society have enlisted their old friend Graham Keen to entertain everyone with one of his fabulous talk entitled ‘’A walk around Medieval Ninfield Village’. Hooe Village Morning:- Saturday 1st April from 10am - 12 noon, Hooe Parish Council will be running a Village Morning when a variety of organisations who work in the community will be making presentations. It promises to be an interesting morning, and all residents will be made very welcome.

Hooe - Sky at Night: Saturday 1st April - from 7.30pm in the grounds and churchyard of St Oswald’s Church, Hooe Please join Andy Lawes FRAS and Paul Foster for an evening of Star Gazing, as they lead everyone on an Astronomy Adventure aided by their telescopes. Tickets for this original and delightful event are £10 per adult, £7 for under 16’s, and the cost includes supper and drinks. Please call Janet Pattison on 01424 845087 to book your tickets; if the weather is wet/ too cloudy, there will be a film presentation instead. All profits go towards the St Oswald’s roof repair funds.

Ninfield Flower Group: Monday 3rd April, 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall, the Flower Group will welcome Stephanie Laing with her demonstration entitled “The F Factor”. Non members are very welcome at a small charge of £4 to include refreshments, and there will be a raffle at the end of the evening for all the lovely blooms used in the displays...And, only 2 days later...

A Flower Group Special: Wednesday 5th April in the Memorial Hall from 7.30pm, the Flower Group is excited to welcome Mr Jim Buttress, the well known Television and Radio broadcaster with his entertaining talk entitled “65 Years in Horticulture”. Tickets are £5 each, to include refreshments, and are available from Mrs Helen Cuncliffe, please call 01424 844916.

Hooe Open Group: Thanks to Edna for the following! The March meeting was very well attended and the speaker, presenter Malcom Pratt, entertained everyone with a fascinating talk on the Cinque Ports, Winchlesea and it’s historic connection to Poole Harbour, Dorset. Malcom is a leading authority on the Cinque Ports, and this presentation on Winchelsea included detail of the preservation which is currently being undertaken to keep the Town Gates, which have stood for over 700 years, maintained and standing for another 7 centuries. The lively Ladies in H.O.G enjoyed afternoon tea, a chat, the bring-and-buy sale, plus the Raffle! If you would like to join them, they meet every second Friday of the month, 2.30pm in Hooe Village Hall, and they will be delighted to see you!
