Carnival Meeting: Wednesday13th July, 8.30pm at the Working Mens’ Club (Tin Hut)- The last one; before it all starts on Thursday when the Marquees go up! Theoretically everything should, by now, be under control and organised...Ha ha!...But, seriously, if anyone can help by giving an hour either setting up on Friday morning, decorating the Marquee on Friday afternoon/ Saturday morning, putting gazebos up/ tables out/ generally being cheerful...!!?And then, on Sunday ..taking it all down, packing it all away, having a fantastic 11am breakfast...and again, generally being cheerful!!? And CAKES!!! If you can make a contribution for the Tea tent on Saturday morning, you’d be very much appreciated! Come to the meeting at the Tin on Wednesday, we’d love to see you for a cheap drink and a chat...and maybe you’ll have some fun creating this year’s Ninfield Carnival!

Ninfield Bowls Club: Here are the results to date from Carole at the bowls club...On June 30th, our team played St Leonards, and had to lend them two players as they were short!; Ninfield won 69 to 46. On Sunday 3rd July they played Cross in Hand and the score was Ninfield 62, Cross in Hand 88..and one of their team stood in for one of ours who was unable to make the match! On Saturday Ninfield played the mixed pairs semi-final, and the four members going through are Geoff Groves and Jackie Richards, Don Burton and our own Carole Lawrence..(well done!) Finals day is 11 September so these teams will play each other then... Good luck!

Ninfield Village Society: Although a bit short on notice..!! Robin Goldsmith has asked for anyone who fancies doing a little bit of digging and planting, to arrive at the Rec, roadside, by the notice board, at 9.30am THIS Saturday, 9th July; where the new Commemorative Garden will be created, with funds raised by the fun and frolics over the Queen’s 90th Birthday weekend. The Treasure Hunt, 90 pace Quiz, Scouts Games and donation from ‘Tips’ at the Afternoon Tea, plus a donation from the Methodist Hall’s Cream Teas and Cakes all totalled £100.. which was all unexpected and absolutely brilliant, so again, a huge thank you to all who came to the events over the weekend, joined in and had fun, and thereby have made another piece of History, and another lovely Garden, for Ninfield. The Village Society are very kindly going to prepare and plant the garden...with any willing volunteers, this Saturday morning...please go and join them, they will be very pleased to see you!

Hooe Parish Council Garden Party: A Garden Party fit for the Queen! To be held in the grounds of St Oswald’s Church, Hooe on Saturday 16th July from 11am - 4pm, with the Village Band playing at 2pm. There will be a Bbq on the go from 11, and a variety of sideshows, jig-saws, a raffle, tombola, preserves, plants, Pony Rides and bowling for a pig! If you would like to contribute to any of the stalls, please call Simon on 845087- Jack on 892576 or Gary- 893007 and a ‘heads up’ from the team...Tiaras may be worn, plus red, white and blue!

Ninfield Bonfire Society: The next meeting is on Wednesday 20th July at the Working Mens’ Club, 8pm, and they will be discussing and finalising all details for the fantastic Music Festival, held in the grounds at Elm Cottage, Marlpits Lane. If you haven’t yet got your tickets, and they’re going fast!, please go to the Ninfield Stores, or online, for advance prices of Adults £10, children £5 for both the Prom on the Friday 29th July and the Gig on the Saturday 30th.There will be a Bar, Bbq and other refreshments on site throughout the event, but you can also take your own picnic for the Prom.. as well as the obligatory Candelabra...! There will be Fireworks on the Friday at 10pm....and all monies raised over the two events will go towards the big Bonfire and Firework Night on October 22nd. N.B. The Society are very aware that people rightly worry about their animals over Firework events, so they have asked one of their members, Vicky Payne; a fully qualified Vet and animal behaviourist, to write a helpful guide with advice and preparation techniques. She will also be giving a talk at the Reading Room on September 6th, 7.30pm- free of charge- so all Dog, Horse, Cat - animal owners, can come and find out the best way to help relieve any animal stress and worry. Ninfield Local History Group: Will next meet on Thursday 21st July at the Methodist Hall, at 7.30pm, when Bee Frost will give a talk on the Windmill at Windmill Hill. As usual, the meeting will have light refreshments, and the Entry price is £3 for non members, £1 for members.

Ninfield Methodist Church: Sunday 10th July 10.30am - service of Praise and Communion with Revd. Neville Barnett.

Methodist Church Events:Wednesday 13th July - 2.30pm Christian Women’s Fellowship- ‘Butterflies and Bees’ in the Church Hall, light refreshments included. In the evening - Wednesday 13th July 5-7pm - Messy Active Teens - ‘Pizza party’.

Ninfield Parish Church: Sunday 10th July - St Mary’s 9.30am Combined Parish Eucharist - (no service in Hooe)
