Bank Holiday Weekend ..again!!: It's the end of May, already, now how did that happen.... and in only a few weeks, it'll be the longest day.. Unbelievable! There really is a lot of truth in the sayings...'Live every Day'.. '˜make the most of every moment'.. '˜try NOT to pack too much in'.. '˜take time for yourself...' Well, to that end, there are a lot of lovely things happening over the holiday and I'm sure, for a start, that everyone is willing for decent, dry weather for the Horse Show on Monday at Polegrove. It's a great event, with some fabulous sights - especially the Horse and Carriage parades, and it is shown to it's best advantage in lovely sunshine, so, Fingers Crossed! Good luck to all the Village fetes and fairs that are also relying on gazebos for shade and not shelter, and, to all the Scout groups that are gathering under canvass for the celebratory weekend.. well, I wouldn't mind betting that most of the youngsters would be as happy in rain and mud as not! Have fun!

Neighbourhood Watch - Police Panel Meeting: This is the meeting that was originally scheduled for earlier in the month, but, due to the busy diary of our PCSO, Rachael Scott, had to be re-booked - so now it will be this coming Tuesday, 31st May in the Reading Room at 7.30pm. Thanks to Rod and the team, who have carried on the great work that Thelma Nance started, Ninfield has a strong and active Neighbourhood Watch group. The meetings are very interesting, and a lot of information can be gathered for future reference. If you can get along to it, you will get free teas and coffees, with biscuits!- and lively chat mixed with important debates and questioning. There are a lot of nasty scams around at present, and at this meeting you can be kept up to date with how to deal with these worrying occurrences; there will probably be some current topics too- like Policing in general whether in or out of the E.U.! Ninfield Parish Council: Will next meet on Thursday 2nd June at 7.15pm in the Methodist Hall, Church Lane. Following on from the AGM and Annual Parish Meeting held on the 18th May, the Chairman, Kaye Crittell remains in her role.. for one more year-. with yours truly still her Vice..!, again for one more year... we have both been serving as Parish Councillors for 14 years, and recently finding that we were telling each other that each should ‘get a life’! .. well, you never know..! . The fact remains that more people are needed to join the happy band of Parish Councillors. It’s a voluntary role, it’s not easy, it takes up time and involvement.. and I guess I’m not selling it very well! BUT, this is a very interesting stage in Village evolvement, and if you want to get to the heart of the debates, be in the meetings where the plans are proposed, or want to give your ideas an airing, then PLEASE come to the next meeting of the Council and see what goes on - it really can be great fun, quite lively and distinctly rewarding.. honestly...or we wouldn’t have been there, caring so much, for SOOOO long!! Ninfeld Dance & Drama Club: There will be another Drama Showcase on Friday 3rd June, at the Memorial Hall, doors open at 5.30pm - Show from 6pm- where the young people will be performing some of the pieces, monologues and routines that they have been working on throughout this year. It’s a more informal/ contemporary presentation, not on stage, but with seating in the round on the floor. As per last year, there will be the presentation of certificates plus some awards, and, for nervous Parents and audience members, there will be wine and nibbles on hand! Entry will be £2 for all Adults, Children under 15 are free, and of course, ‘Mums of performers’ free!!! This year has been more difficult for the Drama Club, with the youngsters having to juggle their time with necessary school after hours commitments, and the generations are now moving up another year, and into another gear! If anyone would like to come and see how good these talented people are then please just come up to the Hall on Friday 3rd 5.30pm; I’m pretty sure you’ll be impressed!

Ninfield Bowls Club: Carole has sent the results again...drum roll please! On Saturday last, Ninfield were at home to Cross in Hand and it was a very close match! Unfortunately for Ninfield the score ended at Ninfield 56, Cross in Hand 59. On Sunday though, there was a fun day, where all members played - long serving or novices, and the Ladies challenged the Men! Bearing in mind that some Ladies had never played before, the final score of Gents 92 - Ladies 83 was pretty close.! The weather was chilly but at least it stayed dry, and the event finished off with a Fish and Chip supper for 45 seated in the club house.. a cosy affair, when you know how intimate the club house is! I did wonder what was going on in the Bowls Club on Sunday...there were loads of cars parked beautifully along the roadside...Thank you for excellent Traffic Calming!! When can you do it again please!!

Very Important Heads Up!!: Another quick reminder that there will be a Clean For The Queen litter pick on Saturday 4th June in Ninfield, starting at the Methodist Hall in Church lane. The Village Society will be leading volunteers round the Village as part of the pre celebration Birthday events! Ninfield P.C are supplying the litter pickers and refreshments and if you want to join the fun either call Roger on 893263 or Robin G. on 892778.

Defibrillators: Can be accessed 24/7/365 from the front entrance wall at the Kings Arms PH Ninfield or on the main facing wall of the Red Lion PH in Hooe.
