U18S FOOTBALL: The U18s team had a great start to their season with a 7-0 win against Rotherfield on August 6. Team reporter, Kevin Regan said, “We did pass the ball very well working the opposition but have a habit of trying to force the ball too long.

Defensively we looked okay but stood off the opposition and at times let their men escape our attention. Nevertheless, more training and game time will sharpen us up more!

Congratulations to Callum Holt-Burgess for his cross shot/goal, also to James Collins for getting two goals on a very frustrating day for himself but like the rest, he kept his head up and well done all round.

The man of the match has to be Shay Pengilly for his four goals, what a way to start the season!

Also well done to the rest of the team on a satisfying performance and good result.”

They play away to Tonbridge Invicta at Swanmead Sports Ground this Sunday, September 13, with kick off at 10.30 a.m.

HOOE OPEN GROUP: The next meeting of Open Group is today, September 11, at the Hooe Village Hall, commencing at 2.30 p.m. The speaker will be Councillor Stuart Earl, who is always a very welcome guest to the group.

HISTORY EXHIBITION: The Ninfield Local History Group are holding an Exhibition tomorrow, Saturday September 12, in the Memorial Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when the theme will be ‘Famous Local characters’ and include some less famous. Who knows, maybe one of your family will be amongst those displayed. Light refreshments will be served throughout. Admission is £2. Their new book, researched and written by Liz Darbyshire, titled Shopper Keepers and Traders will be on sale. METHODIST CHURCH: On Sunday, September 13, Tricia Williams will lead her first service at Ninfield Methodist Church, at 10.30 a.m. - they hope some young people will help as well. This service will be followed by coffee and light refreshments. Their next Messy Church will be on Wednesday, September 30, at 3.30 p.m. (straight after school).

HOOE HISTORY SOCIETY: Hooe History Society next meet on Thursday, September 17, in Hooe Village Hall at 7.30 p.m. They welcome back Barbara Strevett who will be talking to them about ‘Growing up in Hooe during the War’. This should be a fascinating evening and it is expected her memories will trigger others! They are looking forward to hearing her experiences and also learn more details about the History of Hooe. If you would like to attend just turn up, you will receive a great welcome.

The History Society Calendar 2016 will be on sale from September 17. This is a little earlier than usual in response to those who have told us they wish to buy them in time to send to relatives living abroad, ready for Christmas.

The Exhibition, advertised to take place in October, has been postponed until 2016. So this October we will be holding our normal Thursday evening meeting, details later

HOOE PARISH COUNCIL: Hooe Parish Council will next meet on the evening of Monday, September 21 at the Hooe Village Hall commencing at 7.30 p.m. All residents are invited to attend.

NINFIELD PARISH COUNCIL: Ninfield Parish Council will next meet on October 1, 7.15 p.m. at the Methodist Church. All residents are invited to attend.

CHRISTIAN VOICES PERFORMANCE: Christian Voices, the Musical Drama Group, will be performing their next play in October. It is called “The Runaway Slave” and is based on the Bible Story from the New Testament of Paul, Onesimus and Philemon. The play was written by Alan Young and the songs composed by Dave Chamberlin. Christian Voices will be performing at Ninfield Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, October 10, at 3 p.m. As usual, the admission is free and all are very welcome to attend.

HOME MADE FAYRE: Ninfield Village Memorial Hall are running their Home Made Fayre again this year on Saturday, October 17. They already have 12 tables booked, but are always looking for more. If you make anything and would be interested in booking a table, please contact Kaye Crittell 01424 892883 or [email protected]. Cost for a 6ft table is £10 if you live in Ninfield, £12 if outside the village. All funds to go to the upkeep of the hall.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: Their next meeting is on Tuesday, November 24 in the Reading Room at 7.30 p.m., do please put it in your diary and go. Ted Kemp, leader of Rother Neighbourhood Watch, will come and show his video of SCAMS. This should be very informative as it is so easy to get caught out.
