HOOE OPEN GROUP: The Hooe Open Group ladies club met on Friday, June 12, for their annual Cream Tea. The event was very well supported, with almost a full attendance. The Club now has a membership of well over 40, with new members joining almost at every meeting. The Cream Tea was a very traditional affair with fruit scones and a selection of homemade sponge cakes to choose from, all served on bone china plates and bone china cups and saucers. Creating an English Tea Shop atmosphere. The entertainment before the tea was a table quiz, compiled by Edna Wallis, comprising both easy and difficult general questions, in the event of a draw, estimating the contents of a sweet jar was the deciding factor. All in, all a great time was had by one and all. Next month the presenter will be Jonathan Lindsey who has been in the theatre for many years, his talk is entitled “Magical Thinking” which should prove most entertaining. If you are interested in joining a very friendly group of like minded ladies, why not come to Hooe Village Hall at 2.30 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday, July 10, you will be made very welcome. For further information contact Edna Wallis on 01424 842591 or e-mail:- [email protected].

Ninfield BOWLS: With the fairing weather, the Ninfield Bowls Club have also been fairing better with their games. On Wednesday June 10, they narrowly lost to Polegrove 62 - 64 in a home match. At home again on Saturday, June 13, Ninfield beat Herstmonceux 61 - 58. Their final game of the week against Bexhill on

Sunday, June 14, saw them lose 84 - 91. I am told that many cups of tea and quite a few biscuits have been consumed this week to keep the club on their toes! Today, Friday June 19, they have their Ladies Invitation, which Vic Lawrence (club Captain) started last year, with 10 clubs entering this year. Afternoon tea will be served and trophies will be awarded to the winning club and runner up.
