PCSO DARYL HOLTER: Due to a restructure within the Rother Policing Team a management decision has been made that the villages of Ninfield and Hooe will now be policed by Bexhill Neighbourhood Policing Team. The responsible named officer will be PCSO Rachael Scott who is contactable by e-mail on [email protected], or by calling “101” and asking for a message to be passed. Daryl met with Rachael on Monday, March 23 to handover. Daryl says: “I will greatly miss both villages and their supportive communities, I have worked on and off within Ninfield and Hooe throughout most of my Rural Policing. I would like to say a big thank you to all the Parish Councils and Neighbourhood Watch and Farming communities and local residents for all their assistance. A great deal of good partnership work has resulted in many resolutions and prosecutions around varying subjects, none of these would have happened without the local communities input. I really do recognise that I am only as strong as those that I work with, I have been so fortunate to know you all. I of course, will still be patrolling in the local areas and I am sure will pass though both villages in the future. In regard to my roles within Heritage and Wildlife Crime, I will still be responsible for both villages and will actively work with those communities to deal with any relating reports”.

HOOE OPEN GROUP: The Hooe Open Group held their monthly meeting on Friday, March 13. The day proved the superstition as day of misfortune as the speaker, John Tidmarsh, was indisposed thereby leaving a gap in the afternoon. Fortunately David Wallis, the husband of Edna Wallis the club organiser, was at hand and was able, without notice to provide an impromptu talk on the customs and traditions of Japan. David had traded in Japan for over 25 years, being the general representative for the Fuji Photo Optical Company. The talk provided an insight into the daily life of the average Japanese company executive, both at work and at play. Even in the twenty second century women are treated as subordinate to their husbands and are confined to keeping house and looking after their children. They even do not go on holiday, where their husbands go away with their work colleagues. As this meeting of the Open Group was the nearest to Easter, everyone was treated to toasted Hot Cross Buns with their afternoon tea. The next meeting of the Club will be on April 10, commencing at 2.30 p.m. at Hooe Village Hall when the speaker will be Elizabeth Downs giving a talk entitled “Assisted Dogs”. Visitors are more than welcome on payment of £2 and if you choose the become a full member the annual fee is currently £10, which includes two subsidised events. NINFIELD LOCAL HISTORY GROUP: Their meeting on March 19 was enjoyed with some fascinating events during past centuries in Winchelsea narrated by Malcolm Pratt. On April 16 they will be holding their AGM, followed by Kevin Gordon speaking on the “Lost Village of Tidemills”. Kevin is a well liked speaker so they look forward to seeing him again.

SPRING SHOW: Ninfield Horticultural Society are holding their Spring Show tomorrow, Saturday, March 28. They look forward to your entries, and to lots of visitors from 2.30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall. FIRST RESPONDERS: The Bexhill & District Community First Responders, who cover Bexhill, Ashburnham, Ninfield, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Hooe , Whydown & Normans Bay, will be meeting on Wednesday, April 1. This is at Bexhill Fire Station at 7.30 p.m., every first Wednesday in the month. If you are interested in finding out more please contact the Team Leader, Mike Dean on 07970024135.

NINFIELD PARISH COUNCIL: Ninfield Parish Council are meeting on April 2, 7.15 p.m. at Ninfield Methodist Church Hall. Planning Committee meetings precede the full council meetings, starting at 7 p.m. All Ninfield residents are invited to attend.

NINFIELD VILLAGE SOCIETY: Ninfield Village Society are holding a meeting and their AGM, in the Reading Room, Church Lane at 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday April 7.

The meeting is open to all and they would like to invite anyone to join them who have an interest in helping to maintain the amenities of our village. After the AGM, there will be a brief report on the work undertaken during the past year and a discussion of future projects. Following a refreshment break, they have their guest speaker Julian Porter from Bexhill Museum, who will talk about the interesting archaeological finds made on the new Bexhill-Hastings Link Road route. CHRISTIAN VOICES: Christian Voices, the Musical Drama Group, will be performing their next play in April. It is called “Malachi” and is based on what happens when the prophet Malachi meets Christian people leading unchristian lives. The play was written by Alan Young and the songs composed by Dave Chamberlin. Christian Voices will be performing at Ninfield Methodist Church Hall, on Saturday, April 11 at 3.0 p.m.

As usual, the admission is free and all are very welcome to attend.

NINFIELD FLOWER GROUP: On Monday, April 13, in the Memorial Hall. They welcome Lynn Carter with her demonstration entitled “Floral Fantasia Colourtastic.”. Non members welcome at a cost of £4.00 to include refreshments. All floral arrangements demonstrated will be raffled at the end of the evening. ARTHRITIS RESEARCH UK: On Wednesday April 15, the Arthritis Research UK are holding a coffee morning from 10.30 a.m. until 12 midday in the Reading Room, Church Lane, Ninfield. Non members, and New members will be most welcome. Contributions for Raffle, and for the Bring and Buy stall would be appreciated. Entry £1 includes coffee and biscuits!
