U18’S FOOTBALL: Ninfield United U18’s went down 2-5 to a rampant Riverhead side that worked closely together. Despite having the better run of the play in most of the first half, lapses let Rusthall have an easy 3-0 lead early on. To be fair, one goal would have been a difficult save for a premiership goalie. Ninfield’s goalie also made two superb saves, to keep the goal score reasonable. We need performances like that from everyone every week. It comes together well on the training pitch but astro turf is not the same as a muddy pitch, that saps stamina, especially for the younger lads. Ninfield pulled one back before halftime but hadn’t come out for the second half focussed enough and let in two more, before another Ninfield goal brought the deficit down to a more respective 2-5. Some advice from a seasoned pro and fan: “Listen to your coach’s advice and try to put them into use in the game, not just in practice. Keep focussed and take your chances. There were plenty of opportunities on Sunday, but they went begging. There’s more to learn from a defeat than a win, you all know what parts of your game need working on, so just try your best and no one can ask for more. NINFIELD FLOWER GROUP: Ninfield Flower Group are next meeting today, Friday, December 5, an the Memorial Hall, commencing at 7.30 p.m. They welcome the talented Craig Bullock, with his seasonal demonstration entitled “WINTER”. BLUEGRASS PRESENTS: Following the recent successful presentation of The Whitetop Mountain Band USA, The Bluegrass Plus Club presents The Corn Potato String Band plus Alive and Picking. STAMPS: Ninfield Working Mens Club are asking you to save your stamps for their charity, Canine Partners, who work in conjunction with Guide Dogs for the Blind. Stamp donations can be dropped off to the working mens club or you can call Marjorie on 892239.

CAFE CHURCH: Ninfield Methodist Church are holding a Cafe Church on Sunday, December 7, 10.30 - 11.30 a.m. You are invited to their monthly family service which includes breakfast. Cafe Church services take place on the first Sunday each month.

HOOE OPEN GROUP: The Hooe Open Group (Ladies Club) December meeting is the club’s Christmas luncheon at the Cooden Beach Golf Club, when guests are invited to join in the celebrations. If you are interested in joining Hooe Open Group (Ladies Club) why not call Edna on 01424 842591.

NINFIELD HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: On Monday December 15, it is their members’ Christmas Evening at 7.30 p.m. in the Memorial Hall. The committee are planning some games and will provide drinks. Edible contributions would be appreciated. Do go along, you might win a prize!

FIRST RESPONDERS: The Bexhill & District Community First Responders, who cover Bexhill, Ashburnham, Ninfield, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Hooe , Whydown & Normans Bay, will be meeting on Wednesday, January 7.
