POLICING MATTERS: Our PCSO, Daryl Holter, advises of a report to the police of an intruder in the Marlpitts Lane area of Ninfield on October 30, at 4.57 p.m. Should anyone have seen or heard anything around that time please could they call “101” quoting reference 1200 30/10/14.

MOBILE LIBRARY: The East Sussex County Council Mobile Library service will next be in the villages tomorrow, November 8 & 22 at Hooe, opposite Denbigh Court, 1.50 p.m. - 2.35 p.m. Ninfield, Coombe shaw (off Manchester Road), 2.50 p.m. - 3.25 p.m. Ninfield, Downsview (off Church Lane), 3.40 p.m. - 4.05 p.m.

CRAFTS FOR CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR: The 4th Annual Craft Fair will be held tomorrow, Saturday November 8, in The Memorial Hall and will be open from 10.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m. The charity this year is Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice. This year there are a number of new crafts on offer, the variety gets better every year. As usual, refreshments will be served all day, so why not meet your friends for a chat over coffee, a light lunch or afternoon tea and cakes? Any enquiries please to Pam Doodes 01424 892329.

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY: As this year is the anniversary of the start of World War 1 an afternoon of Commemoration of the event has been created, alongside the marking of Remembrance Sunday on November 9. This will be held in the Memorial Hall, doors open at 1.30 p.m. and will include light refreshments, a wreath laying ceremony with the Ninfield Scouts and the Parish Council, a short presentation from the History group on the usage of the Hall during wartime, a poignant piece by the Drama club enacting a WW1 scene, some popular songs from the era performed by youngsters from the school and a short sermon from a ‘WW1 Chaplain’. Then there will be tea etc. and a natter, with doors closing by 5 p.m. This is an all inclusive village event, there is no charge, all residents are invited to come and be part of the Ninfield Commemoration of the First World War It’s a time to remember, and to be close to the people we love.

POLICING PANNEL MEETING: The next Policing Panel meeting will take place on November 11, 7.30 p.m. in the Reading Room, Ninfield. The guest speaker for the nght will be Stephanie Smith - Sussex Finds Liaisn Officer/Sussex Archarological Society/Portable Antiquities Scheme. Daryl Holter, our PCSO, works very closely with Stephanie in his role as a Heritage Crime Officer and has recently worked on night hawking and theft reports across Sussex and Kent and Surrey.

HOOE OPEN GROUP: The Hooe Open Group next meet on November 14 at Hooe Village Hall, 2.30 p.m. For further details contact Edna Wallis on 01424 842591.

CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING: St Mary’s are holding an Early Christmas Coffee Morning on Saturday, November 22, 10.30 a.m. - 12 noon. This will be held in the Reading Room, Church Lane Ninfield. There will be a variety of stalls including crafts, gifts, cards, cakes, produce, and books. There will also be a raffle, competitions and tombola too. You are invited to go along, take a friend and enjoy relaxing conversation over coffee, together with the opportunity to get some Christmas items.

FIRST RESPONDERS: The Bexhill & District Community First Responders, who cover Bexhill, Ashburnham, Ninfield, Catsfield, Crowhurst, Hooe , Whydown & Normans Bay, will be meeting on Wednesday, December 3. NINFIELD PARISH COUNCIL: Ninfield Parish Council next meet on December 4, 7.15 p.m. at the Methodist Church Hall. All Ninfield residents are welcome to attend.

BLUEGRASS PRESENTS: Following the recent successful presentation of The Whitetop Mountain Band USA, The Bluegrass Plus Club presents The Corn Potato String Band plus Alive and Picking. This American Acoustic Concert will be held on December 6, 8.30 - 11 p.m. at Ninfield Memorial Hall. CAFE CHURCH: Ninfield Methodist Church are holding a Cafe Church on Sunday, December 7, 10.30 - 11.30 a.m. You are invited to their monthly family service which includes breakfast. Cafe Church services take place on the first Sunday each month.

HOOE’S OLD MOTOR CLUB: It is some time since Hooe’s Old Motor Club show was held in August. The time has now come to distribute surplus funds raised on that day. Clubs and organisations in the area are invited to submit requests for money. Please write to Chris Hone, c/o Hooe’s Old Motor Club, Marwin Farm, Marley Lane, Battle, East Sussex, TN33 0RE, before December 1, 2014, enclosing a brief note as to why your organisation should be considered. Requests will be discussed at the next committee meeting in January, 2015.
