Ninfield

Oil thefts: our PSCO, Daryl Holter, would like to make you aware that we are heading in to the time of year where we will sadly see an increase in heater oil theft and shed / garage breaks. “Please could I ask you to consider your security and crime prevention. Should you or anyone else you know need any assistance with this please contact me.” Daryl can be contacted at the Battle Neighbourhood Policing Team, by telephoning 101.

Housing Survey: The Parish Council would like to thank everyone that responded to the Housing Survey. They received 349 responses (over 50% of households in the village) and are collating all of your comments. Their next steps are a meeting with a representative of Wealden District Council and a Village Open Meeting to present the results and agree how we take points forward. The Open Meeting will be on October 22 - details will be on the noticeboards and website. Please go along and help them to keep the momentum going. Thanks should also go to all of the councillors and volunteers who took questionnaires to every house in the village and spoke with a number of residents, with special thanks to Cllr John Cheshire for collating all of the responses.

Ninfield Bowls Club: Ninfield Bowls Club hosted the Final Fling last Sunday, October 21. This was an all day event hosting all the teams in the Rother League, although Sidley Martletts were unable to attend. They started at 9.30 a.m. and ended at 11.45 a.m. so that they could break for dinner which was salad along with Ham/Cheese/Pork Pie/Quiches and French Bread and all the trimmings coleslaw etc., followed by either Peach or Raspberry Trifle or Apple Pie with cream. Everything was supplied by members with numerous cakes for afternoon tea. Tea and Coffee was served all day to keep the troops going. The Ninfield Team consisted of Carole Lawrence, Dennis Downes, Brian Osborne and Sheila McCubbin, the last two members being Ninfield residents. They came second out of the 9 teams that attended and came fourth in the Rother League out of the fully ten clubs over the Season. It was a lovely day and they hopefully made some money with raffle/tombola and craft stall and other side shows towards their new Pavilion fund. They now have to wait until 2015 before playing outdoors at Ninfield again, but how this Season has passed quickly!
