Unfortunately there was another theft in Ninfield from a garage in the Green area during the night of 12/11 - 13/11. Again, a quantity of items were taken. Please make sure that all sheds, outbuildings and garages are secure at all times and valuables are kept out of sight. If anyone saw or heard anything suspicious please call Daryl on 101 ext 65261. Over the last few weeks a series of burglaries to sheds, outbuildings and garages have occurred in the Ninfield area. To make local people more aware of outbuilding security and crime prevention, Battle Neighbourhood Policing Team have organised a property marking and crime prevention event at Ninfield Doctor’s Surgery, High Street, Ninfield today, Friday November 23 from 7pm to 8pm (but will be around later if required). PCSO Daryl Holter said: “I’d like to encourage as many Ninfield residents as possible to come along on Friday to discuss any concerns about this recent spate of burglaries, where items such as chainsaws, bicycles and lawn mowers have been stolen. We’ll also be offering free property marking, immobilise.com registration and sign up to our weekly email updates. Finally, please remember that we rely on you for information that could lead to these crimes from happening again in the future so I’d like to ask all to please continue to contact Sussex Police on 101 with any information about suspicious people, behaviour or vehicles.” For advice on securing your home visit the Sussex Police website www.sussex.police.uk or call 101 and ask for a visit from your local Crime Prevention Officer.

Last Saturday, November 17, the 1st Ninfeld Scout Group held a Bingo Night. Around 100 people enjoyed a great night with a fabulous atmosphere. It was brilliant to see such a range of age groups enjoying an evening out! Special thanks must go to Veronica Sargeant, Carole Beddows and Sally Webb for organising the night. Hooe Sports Football Club played Ticehurst in the ESFL Premier Division last Saturday loosing 5-3. This Saturday, November 24, they play Eastbourne Albert at home at 1.30pm. The Club are also in need of some more committed players (they recently had to pull out of their Hastings FA Intermediate Cup match). YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU! Ninfield Methodist Church hold a ‘Wesley Guild’ on Wednesday November 21, 2.30pm. This is a relaxed and informal fortnightly meeting friendship group. This week they are looking at ‘Fair Trade‘ with Rev. Michael & Mrs. Ward. All are warmly welcome to attend.

St Mary’s Church Christmas Coffee Morning is tomorrow, Saturday November 24 at 10.30am in the Reading Room. Raffle, Competitions, stalls including Tombola, Cakes and Produce, Crafts and Gifts and refreshments. Come and enjoy some Christmas cheer and conversation with friends.

With the nights drawn in and Christmas activities getting into full swing, please think about these words from our PCSO Daryl Holter:Keep a light on…Why let burglars know you’re not home? Keep your home secure this winter:-

Use an automatic time switch on an indoor light, either upstairs or in a room that cannot be peered into from the road. Regularly change the timing on the switch.

Put a time switch on a radio tuned in to a chat station, giving the impression that the house is occupied. Again, regularly change the timing on the switch.

Fit security lighting – either dusk to dawn energy efficient lighting that will come on automatically as dusk sets in, or infrared activated lighting which draws attention to movement.

Ensure that doors and windows to the rear of the house are locked and secure. Don’t forget to lock your shed – your tools can be used to break in.

Trim overgrown plants – don’t give burglars a hiding place.

Secure your windows, paying particular attention to those on the ground floor and above flat roofs. Use locks and bolts and keep all your keys, including car keys, out of sight and out of reach.

Property mark your valuables with your postcode and your house number or name. Some articles are unsuitable for marking so photograph them – with a ruler in view to show scale.

Intruder alarms are an effective deterrent against burglars. Before choosing a system seek advice to ensure it is the most suitable for your needs.

The best defense again burglary is prevention.

Ninfield Village Society are holding a Coffee morning on Saturday December 1 in the Reading Room from 10.00am to 12 noon. You are invited to go along and find out about the work the Society does within the village. There will be picture displays related to their work and some wonderful shots from both the Jubilee weekend and Carnival. Their treasurer Robin Goldsmith will give a talk on activities and progress made in Church Wood during the past year. As well as refreshments being available, there will be home-made produce for sale and raffle prizes to win.

Ninfield Working Men’s Club will be holding a charity Christmas Coffee Morning on December 4 (at the NWMC) in aid of Hastings Young Life Guards, from 10am until 12.30pm. There will be a cake stall, brick-a-brac, new and nearly new stalls, alsong with a raffle. You are invites to get some of Christmas shopping done and sit and relax by their open fire. Entrance is £1/person to include your coffee/tea and a mince pie.

Ninfield Parish Council are meeting on December 6, 7.15pm at the Methodist Church Hall, Church Lane, Ninfield. All Ninfield residents are invited to attend.

Ninfield Flower Group are meeting on Friday December 7 at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall. This year they look forward to welcoming Nick Grounds with his demonstration entitled “Christmas Carols”. Tickets are £9.00 payable at the time of order and will include light refreshments. Tickets for this event are available from Ellie Barron on 01424 893385. The Hooe Open Group’s next event will be at the Cooden Beach Golf Club where the club will be holding it’s Christmas luncheon. This is now a regular event to end the programme for the year and a special occasion on which the members can invite friends as their guest. If you would like to consider joining the Hooe Open Group, go along to their January meeting being held on Friday 11th which will be a members event and will present an opportunity for new members to get to know each other.
