Nearly 40 Hooe residents of all ages and a variety of dogs turned up to walk the footpaths of Hooe on saturday October 16. The walk, organised by Peter and Pam Doodes was led by Murray, an experienced walk leader, who introduced the group to footpaths known and unknown in the Parish. The weather was perfect and the event was enjoyed by all. Returning to the village hall at 12.30pm the ravenous walkers tucked into hot dogs and hot coffee and a certain number then found their way to The Red Lion to continue conversations. It was generally agreed to be a great way to spend a saturday morning and the second walk, arranged for saturday 6th November has already been put into diaries. This walk will cover some of the other footpaths in Hooe. Again, meet at 10.00am at the Hooe Village Hall, bring children Grandparents, friends and dogs (with leads). All are welcome to come and help make this a family fun morning. The walk returns to the hall for hot dogs and hot drinks at lunchtime. Why not join in? Contact Pam Doodes on 01424 892329 for more information.

Following the recent Carnival Committee AGM, the core team of the carnival is decreasing in numbers. They would really welcome new helpers to the committee. The treasurer is intending to do one more year and the committee are hoping that a willing villager may be prepared to shadow him this year, in the hope that they could take over next year. Also, after 4 years Lorna Tomasetti has stepped down from the role of secretary, which also needs filling. The committee is in desperate need of new members. If any local people would be willing to take a more proactive role in running the carnival, please contact Lorna on 893644 for more details. They need help with running the tea tent, organising events and would welcome fresh ideas. The Carnival Committee’s next meeting is on Wednesday November 10, 8.00pm at the Working Men’s Club (Bexhill Road, Ninfield). Please turn up or ring Lorna first if you would like to talk through any ideas.
