I have a small apology to make! The Village Gala Night on Friday October 29, 2010, at the Memorial Hall is being organised by Sami Guard with the Hall Committee and the Carnival committee helping with the Bar and Raffle. With the committees supporting Sami, this promises to be a great evening of entertainment. Tickets are priced at £12.50 per person, to include a fish and chip supper. The Ninfield Horticultural Society are holding their AGM on Wednesday October 20, 2010 at the Memorial Hall, 7.30pm. The meeting will be followed by Kim Parks’ local slides. The committee looks forward to welcoming you there to start their Diamond Celebration Year. I little birdy tells me that our lovely Post Mistress has received a plaque from the Post Office for 20 years of service. Many congratulations to you Sophie. A big thank you from the villagers of Hooe and Ninfield for the wonderful service that you provide.

A reminder that Hooe Parish Council’s first of two morning events of Walking the Footpaths of Hooe is tomorrow (October 16, 2010). Meet at 10.00am at the Hooe Village Hall. All are welcome to come, dogs on leads please. The walk returns to the hall for hot dogs and hot drinks at lunchtime. Further details from Peter or Pam Doodes 892329.

St Marys Church, Ninfield are holding their monthly Winter lunches again, with Octobers being on Wednesday October 20, 2010. The lunches are held in the Reading Room, Church Lane 12pm to 1.30pm. There will be soup, bread, cheese, tea and coffee and a chance for a good chat. There is no charge for these lunches but a donation to a children’s charity is appreciated. The October meeting of the Hooe Open Group (Ladies Club) took place on the afternoon of Friday October 8, 2010 at Hooe Village Hall. Edna Wallis welcomed all those present, including two guests. There was a good attendance to hear the invited speaker Carol Holland to tell all about the duties of a County Registrar and the fascinating range of marriages she has had to cope with over the years. If you are interested in joining the Open Group Ladies Club, contact Edna Wallis on 01424 842591 or just turn up on the second Friday of every month at 2.30pm.
