On August 15 a report was received by our local policing team that a tractor had some damage done to it in the Church Lane area of Ninfield.

If you saw anything suspicious or know any information please contact Sussex Police by dialing 101, ext 65261, quoting ref serial 1592 15/08/12. Other than this there are no other reported crimes in our villages.

Ninfield Horticultural Society: Last Saturday’s Summer Show was a real success. The committee would like to thank everyone who entered. It was great to see so many people from the village and local area enjoying the exhibits and teas in the hot afternoon.

Ninfield Bowls Club have been enjoying the good weather this last week. They played Sidley Martlets on August 15 loosing 46-86. Saturday August 18 they played Ringmer drawing the match at 66-66 a piece. August 19 saw them play Guestling winning 70-54.

3 members of Ninfield Flower Group - Christine, Jennifer and Hazel, have been invited to do three floral arrangements for Southwark Cathedral’s Flower Festival this weekend, August 23- 26. The Cathedral is a short walk from London Bridge station for anyone wishing to go and have a look at our local talent’s work in the splendor of London.

Hooe Sports Football Club are still on the look out for new Players for the 2012-13 season as they look to strengthen their squad in preparation for their return to the East Sussex Football League Premier Division. As well as players, they are also looking for sponsors, no matter how small, who would like to support their local football team in any way that they can. St Mary’s church (Ninfield) are holding a Social Evening Friday on August 31 in the Reading Room (Church lane). This will be a ‘not the Jubilee or Olympics Quiz Evening’ with a fish and chip supper. Doors open at 6.45pm for a 7pm start, food at 8pm. refreshments of tea and coffee will be available or if you prefer, you are welcome to take your own beer or wine. The Carnival Committee are holding their annual pram race on Sunday September 2. It will be held on the Recreation Ground, 11.30am-2pm. There will be a BBQ, bar and refreshments will be available. As usual there will be races for the following categories: junior, senior, adult and mixed. If you are all fired up after the Olympics and think you can beat the great Usain Bolt, then you can test your speed in races against SID. Fancy dress is invited with prizes for entries. Hopefully, there will be more entires this year (maybe you could go as your favourite Olympian of 2012?)! Celebrate the end of the summer holidays in style with lots of racing fun! Ninfield Flower Group are next meeting on Monday September 3 in the Memorial Hall commencing 7.30pm for a demonstration by Pat McDonald entitled “A Walk in the Park”. Non members welcome a entrance charge of £3.00 includes refreshments all flower arrangements raffled at the end of the evening.

Hooe Open Group will be meeting again at Hooe Village Hall on Friday September 14 at 2.30pm. There will be a wide selection of top quality, designer ladies clothing on sale, taken from the wide ranging display by “A Touch of Class” who specialise in nearly new garments and shoes. If you want to look stunning at a fraction of the cost you would otherwise pay, come to Hooe Open Group in September and kit yourself out ready for the party season. Ninfield Local History Group are meeting on Thursday September 20. There will be a talk by John Cheshire entitled ‘What the Census Tells Us’. On Thursday October 18 a guest from Bexhill Museum will be talking about The Brassey Family. Everyone is welcome to the meetings. There is a charge of £1 for members and £2 for non-members to help cover the cost of refreshments and guest speakers. Annual membership costs £10. This year, they hope to have a section dedicated to those that may want to ‘test the waters’, but only have one or two items to exhibit. They are interested in everyone, so please don’t be shy!
