The lunch raised a fantastic £235 for Arthritis Research.The event went very well with good weather and good company. The organisers would like to thank Pete and Carol for hosting the event, who’s garden made a very pleasant venue. They would also like to thank all those who supported the event.

Ninfield Local History Group are hoping to arrange a visit to the Observer Corps Post which is in the grounds of the Reservoir (Ninfield) and would like to hear from any former member of the corps. Please contact Rod Ffoulkes on 893635.

Ninfield Methodist Church’s recent Coffee Morning (August 4), in memory of Ron Wells, was attended by over 50 members of the family, friends & local people. Fubd raised from the event have enabled them to send donations of £75 to the Stroke Association and £75 to St. Michaels Hospice. The organisers would like to thank all those who supported the event.

The Christian Womens Fellowship’s Coofee Morning/Mini Lunch held on August 8 was very well supported and raised a fantastic £472 forThe Chestnut Tree Childrens Hospice. It may have been the lure of Judy Mann’s delicious cup cakes or finding a bargain in the mountain of bric-a-brac but it was a tremendous amount to make on what was a very ‘damp’ day. A big thank you to all those who attended the event from the organisers.

Ninfield Bowls Club played Westfield in a Rother League match at home on August 11, winning 75-50! A very hot afternoon got the better of them on August 12 when they played at Pett loosing 57-81. On the same day two mixed Ninfield teams attended the Hellingly Invitation day and had a very enjoyable day.

Hooe Open Group had a very successful gathering of the members on the occasion of the club’s visit to Bexhill Costume Museum on Friday August 10, where a group of 20 members were given the opportunity to handle and examine a range of garments, covering a period of almost 300 years. After the visit the group made their way across to the De La Warr Pavilion for a cream tea, with scones and cake. The club will be meeting again at Hooe Village Hall on Friday September 14 at 2.30pm. There will be a wide selection of top quality, designer ladies clothing on sale, taken from the wide ranging display by “A Touch of Class” who specialise in nearly new garments and shoes. If you want to look stunning at a fraction of the cost you would otherwise pay, come to Hooe Open Group in September and kit yourself out ready for the party season. Non members are welcome to come along at the nominal cost of £2, which includes tea & biscuits. If you choose to become a member the cost is £10, which includes your visitor’s fee. Ninfield Horticultural Society’s Summer show is tomorrow, August 18 in the Memorial Hall at 2.30pm. They invite you to submit your entries for the show (there are classes for young and old alike!). Entry forms can be obtained from Rose, Ivan, Robin or Linda, to be submitted by August 15. There will also be refreshments and a tombola! All are welcome.

Hooe Parish Council are meeting on August 20, 7.45pm in the Village Hall. All Hooe residents are invited to attend.

Daryl Holter, our local PCSO is holding a meet and greet on August 23, 6pm at the Red Lion Public House car park. This is a great opportunity for you to discuss any policing issues that you may have with Daryl.

3 members of Ninfield Flower Group - Christine, Jennifer and Hazel, have been invited to do three floral arrangements for Southwark Cathedral’s Flower Festival which runs August 23- 26. The Cathedral is a short walk from London Bridge station for anyone wishing to go and have a look at our local talent’s work in the splendor of London.

St Mary’s church (Ninfield) are holding a Social Evening Friday on August 31 in the Reading Room (Church lane). This will be a ‘not the Jubilee or Olympics Quiz Evening’ with a fish and chip supper. Doors open at 6.45pm for a 7pm start, food at 8pm. refreshments of tea and coffee will be available or if you prefer, you are welcome to take your own beer or wine. Tickets are £5.50 available from Nikki 01424 893867 and at Church on Sundays. All are welcome to go along and have some food and fun with friends!

The Carnival Committee are holding their annual pram race on Sunday September 2. It will be held on the Recreation Ground, 11.30am-2pm. There will be a BBQ, bar and refreshments will be available. As usual there will be races for the following categories: junior, senior, adult and mixed. If you are all fired up after the Olympics and think you can beat the great Usain Bolt, then you can test your speed in races against SID. Fancy dress is invited with prizes for entries. Hopefully, there will be more entires this year (maybe you could go as your favourite Olympian of 2012?)! Celebrate the end of the summer holidays in style with lots of racing fun! Ninfield Local History Group are meeting on Thursday September 20. There will be a talk by John Cheshire entitled ‘What the Census Tells Us’. On Thursday October 18 a guest from Bexhill Museum will be talking about The Brassey Family. Everyone is welcome to the meetings. There is a charge of £1 for members and £2 for non-members to help cover the cost of refreshments and guest speakers. Annual membership costs £10. Ninfield Arts & Crafts is back on November 24 - if you live in Ninfield and would be interested in exhibiting, please contact Kaye Crittell 01424 892883. This year, they hope to have a section dedicated to those that may want to ‘test the waters’, but only have one or two items to exhibit. They are interested in everyone, so please don’t be shy!
