n The February meeting of the Hooe Open Group was held at the Hooe Village Hall on Friday 10, when a record number of members attended, including three new members, who were welcomed into the club by the organiser, Edna Wallis.

The speakers were two representatives from Tesco, Hazel Lingham and her colleague Dawn, who are the Community Champions for the company. They gave a very interesting account of the history of the company, from its humble beginnings in 1919 as a market stall run by Jack Cohen and his partner T. E. Stockwell. Next month the speaker will be Margaret Crisp who will tell of her experiences on travelling the World as a solo traveller. All are welcome to attend. Go along to Hooe Village Hall on the second Friday of each month at 2.30pm.

n Hooe Sports Football Club are playing Catsfield on February 18, kick off at 2pm at Catsfield. Next week, February 25, they play Bexhill AAC at home, kick off 2pm. n Hooe Parish Council’s next meeting will be held on Monday February 20 at 7.45pm in the village hall. Hooe residents are invited to attend.

n The Ninfield PCSO, Daryl Holter, will be a meet and greet on February 21, 9am outside the village Post Office. These are a great opportunity for residents to discuss any policing issues with Daryl or just to get to know you local PCSO.

n The PCC of St Oswold’s Hooe will be holding a Soup and Pancake Lunch at Hooe Village Hall on Tuesday February 1, 12pm - 2pm. All are welcome to attend this event. There will be a plate for donations towards the costs.

n A number of people have expressed shy interest with Sami Guard on Burlesque dance classes. She is therefore doing a taster class on Friday February 24 at the Memorial Hall, 7.15-8.30pm £5 for the class. Ladies of any age who want to have a lot of fun, let their hair down and learn some burlesque dance moves that are easy to do and good exercise at the same time! n The next Diamond Jubilee meeting is Saturday February 25, 10am at the Bowls Club. All news letters should now be out and they hope people are keen to add any ideas or help to the agenda.

n The next game of Whist Drive is on February 29 at 7.30pm in the Committee Room of the Ninfield Memorial Hall. Cost is £3 which includes a cup of tea or coffee. Go and give it a try - call 892057 and speak to Beryl for more information.

n St Mary’s Ninfield, Lent Lunches 2012. Enjoy homemade soup, bread and cheese, tea and coffee and a chat with friends at the Reading Room, Wednesdays from noon-1.30pm on February 29 and March 7, 14, 21 and 28. Donations to a local charity, the church look forward to seeing you.
