No rest for Tiny Tim

Other dads might relax on Father's Day but not Tiny Tim at Drusillas Park.

The Emporor tamarin will have baby Pancho on his back - quite literally.

Emperor tamarins share parental duties and the father will often carry the new arrival before passing them over to mum for nursing.

Emperor tamarins are a highly endangered species, found naturally in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. They take their name after the 19th Century Emperor, Wilhelm II of Germany, who they are said to resemble on account of their distinctive moustaches.

Tiny Tim and his companion Lucy were introduced at the zoo in 2006 as part of a European breeding programme.

Since then, these mini monkeys have been making a huge impression on each other and on April 12 a new generation was born into the tamarin empire, with the arrival of Pancho.

The new addition is still quite dependent and will rely on mum and dad for a few months yet. However, under the guidance of Tiny Tim, the Drusillas keepers are confident that the new Emperor will soon be ruling all our hearts and become a firm favourite at the Zoo.
