Nominate your star of a senior person

THE Bexhill Observer has teamed up with the award-winning Ashridge Court Care Home to launch a six week campaign in search of '˜Bexhill's Senior Person of the Year 2011'.

There are some very bright stars in the community and this award will provide the opportunity to recognise and award them publicly. Starting today, readers are asked to nominate the senior person who makes a valuable difference to their lives.

Suggestions can be far reaching and varied – from small acts of kindness, such as helping a neighbour with shopping and / or looking after grandchildren to outstanding contributions to the community at large – no matter how grand or small, we want to hear about it.

Liz Young, of Ashridge Community Care, said: “Bexhill’s senior citizens are key contributors to the local community yet their input, which makes a big difference to other people’s lives, often goes without public recognition. This campaign offers a platform for the people of Bexhill and its surrounding areas to honour seniors who have inspired or helped others and played a positive role in their life.

“We are on a mission to find ‘Bexhill’s Senior Person of The Year’ and urge local people to put forward their nominations.”

The campaign will acknowledge the valuable contribution made by the individual to others and will culminate with the presentation of a prize at Ashridge Court’s premises located on Barnhorn Road.

The campaign follows a ‘for the people, by the people’ concept and nominations can be made by literally anyone – a friend, a colleague, a neighbour, family member or even nominate yourself! Nominations must be for people aged 65+ and entries can be made by e-mailing us on bexobs@trbeckett.co.uk
