Nominations are being accepted during this month for the annual Arun youth community awards.

The awards will be judged by the Arun Youth Council and are organised between Inspire Leisure and Arun District Council.

The nomination categories are for bravery, voluntary and charity work.

Any young person believed to have done something worthwhile during the past year in one of those areas is eligible. Those nominated must be aged between 11 and 19 years.

Matt Hoff, the youth council chairman, said: "The youth community awards are always a great occasion and we love taking part.

"It is a real highlight for the young people of the youth council to get the opportunity to read all the nominations and decide who should be the overall winners. There are always such amazing stories of selflessness and heroism."

The awards form a major part of the youth council's annual calendar. Its members will decide the winners soon after the deadline for nominations on January 30.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony on April 1 at the Windmill Entertainment Centre in Littlehampton. There will be prizes for winners and certificates handed out for all those nominated.

The awards also link up with the Bognor Hotham Rotary Penny awards.

Anyone nominated from the Bognor Regis area will automatically be put forward for a Penny Award, with Bognor Hotham Rotary Club selecting overall winners to be recognised at the same ceremony.

Nomination flyers are in all secondary schools, youth clubs, libraries and council buildings.
