Nominations open for county council elections

NOMINATIONS opened for West Sussex County Council's elections yesterday (Tuesday, March 26).

Anyone wishing to stand as a candidate can submit their request to the returning officer from now until midday on Friday, April 5. The elections are due to be held on Thursday, May 2.

Nomination documents can be picked up from Chichester District Council’s election office at East Pallant House.

On election day, polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm.

Poll cards will be sent to all registered electors.

Applications to register to vote and for new postal votes must be received by the electoral registration officer before 5pm on Wednesday, April 17, for both Arun and Chichester district residents.

Successful candidates will serve on the county council until 2017.

Chichester City Council also has a vacancy on the North Ward.

The council by-election has been called after the resignation of Cllr James.

The successful candidate will serve on the city council until May, 2015.
