Northbrook fashion student wins Zandra Rhodes Textiles award

A FASHION student has won an award at Graduate Fashion Week.

Northbrook College student Dominique Kral, who studies BA fashion design, was awarded the Zandra Rhodes Textiles award at the gala event in London.

Dominique’s win follows that of fellow student Rhea Fields, who won the best women’s wear award at the same event last year.

The 23-year-old, from Worthing, is one of a group of 12 Northbrook students who showed their degree collections on the London catwalk earlier this month.

Northbrook’s fashion design course leader, Simon Seivewright, said: “I was so pleased for Dominique to have even been nominated and, after Rhea Fields’ win last year, I did not want to count anything certain this year.

“But when they called her name at the celebrity gala awards show last night it was an amazing feeling to think that we had a winner again.”

Dominique’s collection was a blend of textiles, experimental and sculptural knitwear with digital prints, taking inspiration from insects combined with metallic leather leggings and resin corsets.

Every year, Graduate Fashion Week showcases the best work from more than 50 fashion and textiles universities.
