Mary's Slide: The new slide, built in memory of Mary Shipstone, is now ready for use! Some eager children were finally rewarded on Saturday, when her mother, Lyndsey, cut the tape. The opening had been delayed, as the Parish Council discovered that a safety surface was required, so the slide has been tantalisingly out of bounds for a few weeks. It is fitting that Mary will be remembered with happiness and children's squeals of delight - and it looks as if her new little sister Daisy is already keen to have a go.

Conservation Society: Julian Luckett will be speaking at the Conservation Society’s AGM, on the topic Why we need Planning. With experience as an architect as well as chairing Rye Conservation Society’s Planning Committee, Julian promises to be an interesting and informative speaker (and he just happens to be our Deputy Chair!). The Conservation Society is a very active group in the village, covering a wide range of interests, so do come along and join up – or just come for the talk if you prefer. Wine and nibbles are on offer from 7pm, with business starting at 7.30pm.

Diabetes: The Patient Participation Group for our surgeries will be holding a meeting on Wednesday 1st June in Northiam Village Hall. ‘Diabetes, an epidemic’ is a presentation by the doctors at Northiam and Broad Oak Practices. Diabetes is an increasing concern as more patients are diagnosed, and may be affecting your family or friends. All are very welcome to come along and hear the facts, and have your questions answered. 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

Helping Hands: A new scheme is being set up to help neighbours. Carol Ward is looking for people who could volunteer to lend a hand to people in the village who need small jobs done that don’t need professional support. There will be a leaflet coming through your door explaining the scheme, and asking for your help. Please do read this and consider whether you can offer your time, or whether the scheme could help you.
