Coffee & Chat: The monthly Village Hall Coffee Morning on Good Friday celebrates Easter with a special raffle, stalls and relaxing chat over coffee 9.30-11.30am. On Wednesdays, Coffee Stop is open in the Church Centre 10-12.

Chitiwiri: Once again the collection for Chitwiri exceeded expectations – this time raising £723.90! Sally says that the feeding programme has been a life saver for the children at Chitiwiri. Since January, all that they have had to eat has been the bowl of porridge that they have been given when they have been at school. As a result of the feeding programme not only have the children been fed but they have had almost 100% attendance, so they have not had a break in their education. Often at this time of year they have less than 50% attendance. Plans are in hand for future sustainability, and the

next fund raiser will be a garage sale on Saturday June 18th.

Jumble Sale: If you missed the date for Chitiwiri’s collection, all is not lost - Northiam Village Hall Trust are holding a Jumble Sale on 28th May, so please remember them if you have suitable items. The Trust is fundraising to repair the car park, which has suffered the ravages of the winter and will be quite a costly project.

Quiz: The Bowls Club will be holding their Quiz on Saturday 2nd April, and it costs £8.50 a head, including fish and chip supper, for tables of 8. Prior booking is essential, so please contact John Taylor – 01797 253549.

Spring Show: For anyone who hasn’t taken part in the Horticultural Society’s Shows, I can heartily recommend it! The Spring Show will be on Saturday 9th April. Far less stressful than Bake Off or the Gardening Challenge, it’s a great way to engage with a timeless village tradition, with the emphasis on enjoyment rather than competitiveness (though it’s always rather nice to win a class!). There’s something for everyone, from a single daffodil to a piece of pottery, via photographs, chutney, knitted toys and leeks.
