Horticultural Society: This evening (Friday), Northiam Horticultural Society are holding their AGM and Christmas Social in Northiam Village Hall at 7.30 p.m. Members and prospective members will be given a warm welcome (and a glass of wine!)

Badminton: Friday evening is a hive of activity in the Pretious Sports Hall, with three junior badminton sessions, starting at 5.30pm, followed by the adult club at 8.15. New faces would be very welcome at the adult club, there is no joining fee – just £3 a session, so just drop in and see if you like it. There is another chance to play on Mondays at 5.45pm, when there is another drop-in session.

Craft Fair: Northiam Bonfire Society is holding a Christmas Craft Fayre in the Village Hall on Saturday (5th) 10am – 2pm. There will be 35 stalls crammed into the two rooms, with a wide range of quality local crafts, so there should be some good ideas for Christmas presents or even treats for yourself! To fortify you, there will be our now famous bacon rolls, and homemade cakes, and you might like to buy some cake to take home or have a go on our tombola. Can you afford to miss it?

Quiz: After a hard day’s selling, Northiam Bonfire Society will take a seated position for a Quiz Night in the Village Hall 7 for 7.30pm. I believe all the tables are booked, but if you want to come, it’s worth calling Judith – 252114 – to see if any teams are missing a member. Rother Valley Brewery Copper Ale will be on sale, as well as wine & soft drinks.

Women’s Fellowship: All members are invited to come along with their Christmas stories, poems etc (humorous ones greatly appreciated!) to Women’s Fellowship on Tuesday, at 2pm in the Church Centre. A great start to the festive season.

Carols on the Green: A relatively new tradition, lighting the village Christmas Tree on the Village Green is now a popular event. This year, it will starting earlier, at 5.30pm, with carols followed by mulled wine and mince pies in the Church Centre.

Hist & Lit: Denis Moriarty will be considering the poet John Betjeman and his fruitful obsession with English architecture on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in the Village Hall, in the latest lecture to the Historical and Literary Society, entitle John Betjeman – First and Last Loves of Architecture.

Coffee Stop: Each Wednesday, Coffee Stop opens between 10am and noon in the Church Centre.

Banking: I understand that the NatWest bank will be trialling a mobile service which will be sited in the Village Hall car park on Thursday afternoons. If it’s used, it will stay....

Parish Council: Parishioners are very welcome to attend the Parish Council meeting, which will be held in the Jenkins Room at 7pm on Thursday 10th.
