Northiam

BONFIRE: Saturday is our big day. If it has so far escaped your notice, Northiam’s third Bonfire Procession and Fireworks will leave the field (past the cricket field on the Hastings Road) at 7.30pm coming into the village and turning round at Thyssel Lane. So if you stand anywhere along Main Street you should see the Procession twice. Then follow after towards the Field, where there will be a big bonfire and some brilliant fireworks. Also on the field will be a bar, food and amusements.

This year, we have four drum corps in the procession Section 5, Sambalanco, Drumskulls and our own NBS drummers, so it won’t be quiet! Each Society is preceded by their shield, so you will know who everyone is the costumes vary, so look out for some convicts, monks, clowns, smugglers, highwaymen as well as the various striped jerseys, all carrying lighted torches.

Entry to the field is just £1, so we hope you will bring some money for the charity collectors along the route, they will have our official purple buckets and will be collecting for Northiam Scout Group, the Village Hall Trust and Jasmine Lodge this year.

ST MICHAELS HOSPICE: For as long as I can remember, Northiam has held two fantastic Coffee Mornings each year, raising funds for St Michael’s Hospice. All three of the current organising team have moved out of the village, so we need some more volunteers to take this on. If you feel you could help in this way, you would be carrying on a much needed tradition, and you will find willing helpers and supporters. Please call 252283 if you can help in any way.

The next fundraising Coffee Morning will be on Saturday November 7 in the village hall, donations for the stalls or raffle will be gratefully received.

ST MARY’S SERVICES: Sunday, 8am Holy Communion, 10.30am Morning Praise.
