Beckley Players: Only two more performances for Anyone for Murder? the comedy thriller by Brian Clemens and Dennis Spooner being staged in Beckley Village Centre. Contact Keith or Carol Hunt 01797 260898 if you haven’t got your ticket. Friday is Theatre Supper Night, costing £15 and including a 3 course meal! Saturday’s performance is £7. The play starts at 7.30pm, supper at 7pm.

Dance Club: There is Sequence Dancing in the Village Hall on Friday evenings, from 7.30pm. If you would like to find out more, call Tony Pomfret (01797 253287). Music, exercise, fun and good company. You can’t go wrong!

Badminton: The badminton season is now under way, and if you would like to find out if this is the sport for you, we have two clubs in our own Pretious Sports Hall. On Friday, the adult club starts at 8.15pm, contact Karen Ayling (01797 253375). The Monday club is run by Sue Clark (016797 253428) for one hour from 5.45pm. Both operate as drop[-in sessions, so do just turn up and say hello!

A thriving junior club is run by Pete Thomson (07815 84517), with three graded sessions on a Friday evening, starting at 5.30pm.

Boot Sale: Northiam Village Hall Trust restarts their monthly indoor Boot Sales on Sunday, 9-11.30am. Please call Marie Edwards (01797 253264) to book a table.

Messy Church: The next Messy Church will be at 4pm on Sunday - all welcome!

Toddlers: Northiam Tadpoles baby & toddler group meet every Tuesday 9.15 - 11.15am at Pretious Sports Hall, Main Street (the hall between the primary school and nursery.) The session is £2.50 per family (to cover costs) for age 0-5’s which includes a healthy snack for the children, drinks and biscuits for the parents/carers, there are lots of toys out for all ages and finishes with song time.

Northiam Nursery has had lots of new children starting this term, but there are still some spaces left. Parents are always welcome to come and have a look around, opening hours are Mon-Fri, 9am - 3pm. Contact at [email protected] or 01797 252799.

Flu: The next Flu vaccination clinic at the surgery will be on Tuesday afternoon 2-2.30pm. Vaccination is recommended for people over 65, and anyone with a long-term condition such as chronic heart, lung or kidney disorders, diabetes , also carers are pnd pregnant women. This year high street pharmacies are also able to offer NHS vaccinations, so if you can’t make the surgery times, don’t miss out - pop into one of our local pharmacies.

Streetstyle Dance: There are two dance classes on Tuesday, at 6pm and 7pm in the Pretious Sports Hall. Call in to find out more, or the Hall is on 252297.

Hist & Lit: The new season of talks to the Historical and Literary Society starts on Tuesday, with the writer Sue Spiel exploring the rich vein of comic poetry. Meetings are held in the Village Hall at 7pm. Join now for 6 months’ entertainment, or visitors are welcome.

Footpath Walk: The Footpath Group leave the surgery car park at 9.30am on Wednesday walking From a Church to a Castle - a 7.5mile walk starting at Cranbrook Church, and including a pub lunch.

Coffee Stop: Each Wednesday, Coffee Stop opens between 10am and noon in the Church Centre.

Table-top Sale: Northiam Nursery are holding a Yable Sale in Beckley Vilage centre on Sunday 18th October 10-12. There will be lots of jumble and bric-a-brac including many childrens’ items. It’s free parking and entry and Royal Snacks will be available for hot, cold drinks, snacks and lunchtime bites. Or if perhaps you’ve had a summer clear out and want to make some cash, you can book a table to sell your things yourself for just £8. Bonfire Celebrations: For anyone who hasn’t visited a Sussex Bonfire, you may wonder why Northiam’s Bonfire Celebration is on Saturday 24th October. This is because we form part of a 2 month long county-wide celebration, which isn’t specifically linked to Guy Fawkes’ Night. Visiting Societies in varied fancy dress, carrying flaming torches and accompanied by drums will march through the village, ending up beyond the cricket field on the Hastings Road for a great Bonfire and Fireworks. Invite family and friends over for the evening and enjoy a touch of Sussex madness on your doorstep – and it only costs £1 to get in!!

The Society is looking for volunteers to help with marshalling. If you could support this village event in this way, please contact Pete Sargent (253798) – you get to wear the coveted purple hi-vis jacket, not to be sneezed at!!
